Famiglia di Alghero originaria di Tortosa le cui notizie risalgono al secolo XVI. Nel 1541 un Guio fu armato cavaliere da Carlo V ed ebbe anche il riconoscimento della nobiltà. Nel 1550 lo stesso acquistò all'asta i feudi di Ossi e di Muros. Nel 1573 i suoi figli furono ammessi allo stamento militare durante il Parlamento Colonna. I figli di uno di essi, un Giovanni, formarono due diversi rami della famiglia: Giovanni continuò il ramo feudale che continuò a risiedere ad Alghero; i suoi discendenti, nel 1656, fecero vendere all'asta il feudo di Muros ma si estinsero poco tempo dopo. Da Francesco, l'altro dei figli di Giovanni, discese l'altro ramo che si stabilì a Sassari e che ereditò la baronia di Ossi all'estinzione del primio ramo. Nella prima metà del secolo XVIII anche questi Guio si estinsero e il feudo passò per matrimonio agli Amato.
