Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Jean, ratifie le traité de Guérande à Guingamp en 1381. On trouve un croisé de ce nom en 1248 (Chartes latines de 1191 à 1249 relatives aux croisés, provenant du cabinet Courtois); Yves, maîtres de requêtes du duc Jean V en 1426, marié à Catherine de la Palue, père de Marguerite, dame de Kerven, mariée à Hervé de Kersauson, dont les descendants se sont fondus en 1550 dans Lezandevez; Robert, seigneur de Lanhoarvé, vivant en 1503, marié à Isabelle du Bois. Les seigneurs de Stangalen, paroisse de Locarn, de même nom et armes, alliés aux Hamon, Raguideau et Boisguéhenneuc, ont produit deux sénéchaux de Carhaix de puis 1749; le second, maire et député de Carhaix aux Etats de 1786; un député de la sénéchaussée de Quimper aux Etats-Généraux en 1789, chevalier de l'Empire en 1809, président à la cour de Rennes en 1811 mort en 1823.
