This lineage descends from Don Nuño Pérez de G. el Bueno, son of Don Pedro Ruiz de G., grandson of Don Ruy Nuñez, and therefore nephew of Don Felix Ruiz de G. and first brother of Santo Domingo. Don Nuño Pérez distinguished himself in the Battle of Las Navas and in the conquest of Baeza; and the king Don Alonso el Sabio gave his descendants a great deal in Seville, which was called G. Don Juan de G. el Bueno, seventh successor of Don Nuño, married in 1369 with Doña María de Castilla, daughter of Infante Don Fadrique, who dowry several towns and the county of Niebla. Later he married Doña Beatriz de Castilla, daughter of King Don Enrique II, and by this junction with the royal house he added to his weapons castles and royal lions on edge.
