La nobile famiglia Guzzoni ha origini molte antiche, e fin dalla prima metà del secolo XV dimorava in Correggio, ed aveva possidenze in quel territorio. In un rogito 28 gennaio 1422 del notaio "Guglielmus Morenius de Rossena" si parla di una riscossione di nove ducati d'oro fatta da un Antonio Guzzoni quondam Giovanni "de Araldis", nome che in quei tempi spesso si trova, insieme o alternativamente, usato per indicare questa famiglia. Così in un atto del 24 gennaio 1446 Antonio figlio di Giovanni, de Araldis dictus de Guzonibus, abitante nel castello di Correggio, compra una pezza di terra in località "Sinadego" di Campagnola. E lo stesso risulta acquirente di altri terreni nel Correggese. In atto 28 agosto 1428 si parla della dote di Caterina de Boni... "uxor domini Laurenti Guzzoni quondam Johannis de Araldis"; e in altro del 27 maggio 1429 è nominato ancora "Laureantius de Araldis, alias de
