The noble Guzzoni family has very ancient origins, and since the first half of the fifteenth century lived in Correggio, and had possessions in that territory. In a deed dated January 28, 1422 of the notary "Guglielmus Morenius de Rossena", there is talk of a collection of nine golden duchies made by an Antonio Guzzoni quondam Giovanni "de Araldis", a name that in those times is often found, together or alternately, used to indicate this family. So in an act of 24 January 1446 Antonio son of Giovanni, de Araldis dictus de Guzonibus, inhabitant of the castle of Correggio, buys a piece of land in the "Sinadego" area of Campagnola. And the same is the buyer of other land in the Correggese. On August 28, 1428, the dowry of Caterina de Boni is mentioned ... "uxor domini Laurenti Guzzoni quondam Johannis de Araldis"; and in another of May 27, 1429
