Antica e nobile famiglia tedesca, originaria della Sassonia-Weimar, uno dei ducati sassoni detenuti dal ramo Ernestino della dinastia Wettin, di chiara e ancestrale virtù, che si è diffusa in tutto il mondo nel corso dei secoli. La chiara nobiltà della casa è confermata dalla presenza del suo blasone nella preziosa opera di JB Rietstap (12 maggio 1828-24 dicembre 1891), un araldista e genealogista olandese, "The Armorial General", un'opera monumentale che contiene i blasoni degli stemmi di oltre 130.000 famiglie europee. La famiglia è stata dichiarata Nobile del Sacro Impero il 17 giugno 1792. Altro ramo.
