Eine Familientradition besagt, dass die Elten von einer Held-Familie, einem Patrizier von Nürnberg, und weiter von einem "edlen Corrado Helt der fränkischen Burg Hagelsheim" abstammen. Aus den Unterlagen des Treffens geht hervor, dass ihr Herkunftsland das Tal von Rauris im Salzburger Land war, wo seit der zweiten Hälfte des fünfzehnten Jahrhunderts Spuren einer Familie von Bauernbauern namens Held vorhanden sind, von denen einige am Ende Jahrhundert gingen sie zweifellos aus kommerziellen Gründen nach Gemona, einem großen Dorf im oberen Friaul, und ließen sich dort dauerhaft nieder. Die Familien der Elti-Grafen und der Elti-Zignoni-Grafen stammen beide von einer Andrea ab, die zum ersten Mal in einem Dokument aus dem Jahr 1496 des Archivio com erscheint. von Gemona und der 1505 diesem Rat zugeschrieben wurde. Diese werden in seinem 1524 vom Notar Girolamo Orsetti (Arch. Not. Udine) ausgearbeiteten Testament Ser Andreas Helt de Rauris de Alemanea Hospes et Civis Glemonae genannt. Als
