La famiglia L'Hermite è originaria dalla Francia. Francesco detto L'Hermite (1601-1655) di Soulière nelle Marche fu poeta drammaturgo di eccezionale valore. Scrisse Marianna, e narrò la sua vita agiata nel romanzo "le page disgracié". Fu preposto dei Marescialli di Francia sotto Carlo VII e Luigi XI. Fu prode guerriero nella guerra dei cento anni e nella guerra di Guyana. Cadde in disgrazia alla morte di Luigi XI. Trasferitasi in Italia vi mantenne quel lustro e decoro, sua nobile tradizione. Il grand'ufficiale avvocato Francesco Hermite fu valorosissimo giurista. Raggiunse nella Magistratura inquirente l'altissimo posto di Procuratore generale. Con Decreto Ministeriale del 14 luglio 1914, fu chiamato a coprire il posto di membro della Commissione Araldica Toscana. Suo figlio il commendatore avvocato Stefano, valoroso civilista, fu con Decreto Reale 18 ottobre 1928 e Regie Lettere Patenti 24 gennaio 1929, nominato Barone (maschio primogenito).
