Ancient and noble German family, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. This House was divided into three principal branches: one with residence in Nuremberg and Zurich, one with residence in Pomerania and the third with residence in Zuzgen (Argovia). In Nuremberg the family flourished nobly since very ancient times and its members always held important offices besides they distinguishing themselves in the exercise of liberal and intellectual professions. In the year 1863, Friedrich Wilhelm Kasimir Hilpert, from Nuremberg, concertmaster, became citizen of Zurich. The family coat of arms has the element of the harp that, being the symbol par excellence of music, represents the sublime intellect. The family branch flourished in Argovia belonged to land nobility, having owned numerous fiefdoms. Some of its representatives devoted themselves to military professions.
