A antiga família Campania, que, segundo alguns historiadores, seria um ramo da muito nobre família Rizzo, descendente, por sua vez, segundo a tradição, do Roman Patricians Ritius, que, após as invasões bárbaras, adotou nova residência na costa Amalfi, de onde o ramo napolitano se originou.
