Família muito antiga e ilustre, descendente da ilustre família judia Yahya, de origem remota sarracena, que se mudou para Portugal, onde floresceu esse Yahya ibn Ya'ish, que desapareceu por volta de 1150, que era o vizir do rei. Alfonso I e, posteriormente, na Espanha e na Itália.
