Antichissima e nobilissima famiglia russa propagata in Italia detta Kapnist o Capnist. Con decreto del Senato Veneto 6 gennaio 1702 (m. v.) Stamatello Capnist del Zante per benemerenze acquisite nella guerra contro il Turco nell'attacco di Santa Maura, fu decorato del titolo di Conte con tutti i suoi discendenti e per terminazione 10 aprile 1741 dei provveditori sopra feudi i suoi due figli Giorgio e Cristoforo furono iscritti nell' A. L. T. col titolo di conti. Furono riconosciuti con Decreto Ministeriale: Basilio, di Giovanni, di Basilio (ric. 1876). Fratelli: Pietro; Michele; Leonida; Vladimiro. Pietro, di Nicola, di Basilio (ric. 1873). Demetrio, di Alessio, di Basilio (ric. 1872). Fratelli: 1) Basilio; 2) Pietro; 3) Paolo. Basilio, di Simone, di Basilio (ric. 1872).
