M. G. de Rivoire de la Bâtie, dans " l'Armorial du Dauphiné", nous donne sur cette famille la note suivante:Famille venue du Vivarais à Moras, dans le Viennois, vers 1590. Théodore de La Martiniere fut capitaine de cinquante hommes d'armes. Guichard, vivant en 1671, était fils de Gabriel, et descendait à la VIIème génération de Guillaume de La Martiniere, vivant en 1404. Guillaume de Piolenc, coseigneur de St-Julien, épousa: 1° Catherine de La Martiniere, dont il n'eut pas d'enfant; 2° Claudine de Génas, le 15 novembre 1490. Jacques de Bernard, seigneur de Montbrison et de Versas, épousa, le 13 novembre 1605, Françoise de Benrard, sa cousine. Jacques, comme procureur de Michelle de Combas, donna quittance de 920 livres à noble Barthélemy Bernard, son père, docteur ès droits et juge de la ville du Saint-Esprit, pour les verser à Gilles de La Martiniere qui lui en fit la reconnaissance, le 23 juillet 1607, devant le notaire André.
