Familia antigua e ilustre, adscrita a la sede de los nobles de la ciudad de Taverna, que, desde tiempos inmemoriales, ha recibido el título de barón. Estaba dividido en dos ramas, una que residía en Laureana di Borrello, que agregaba el apellido Argirò, y la otra que residía en Mileto, donde contaba entre las familias nobles y feudales de Mileto, poseyendo una tierra feudal "en varios miembros" , en el barrio de Barletta. Como tal, por otro lado, la familia se nombra entre los barones en el catastro de uncia de Mileto, en el folio 43. El primer personaje de la familia, del cual tenemos noticias, es un Ottavio Lacquaniti, floreciente, junto con su esposa Caterina d'Aprile, en los albores del siglo XVII, quien, en 1634, era alcalde de los nobles de la ciudad de Mileto.
