Famiglia assai antica della Valtellina, che ha per capostipite Ruggero, cittadino comasco, vivente nel 1350. Il figlio suo Beltrame si trasferì in Valtellina e fu padre di Agostino, che nel 1495 ottenne dal cardinale Ascanio Maria Sforza la ricognizione dei privilegi che la famiglia aveva né comuni di Stazzona, Villa e Ceretto per sè e pè suoi discendenti in perpetuo. Con diploma 12 aprile 1684, interinato il 16 aprile 1685, Carlo II, re di Spagna, concesse a Cesare, dottore collegiato di Como, figlio di Baldassarre, il titolo di conte della Cassina dei Passerini nel Lodigiano con trasmissione primogeniale mascolina e per un figlio maschio d'un suo fratello e suoi discendenti maschi primogeniti. Questi fu il capostipite del ramo comitale della famiglia estinto con Giustina (1743-1825) andata in sposa nel 1761 al marchese Antonio Recalcati e dell'altra diramazione, pure estinta nel 1864 con Abbondio, improle. Questi con sovrana risoluzione 28 genn.
