Antigua y noble familia italiana, originaria de la Toscana pero con ramas también en Lombardía, Emilia y Lazio, de claras y ancestrales virtudes, que se ha extendido por todo el mundo, a lo largo de los siglos. La clara nobleza de esta Casa también se confirma por su presencia en la "Raccolta Ceramelli Papiani", una colección heráldica creada durante muchos años por Enrico Ceramelli Papiani (1896-1976), hoy conservada en el Archivo Estatal de Florencia. La familia Lanfredi tuvo su cuna en la ciudad de Florencia, donde floreció noblemente desde el siglo XIII. Sin embargo, los contactos con la ciudad de Lucca fueron constantes. Bernardo Lanfredi fue de hecho magistrado jefe de Lucca en 1276 y 1282; Giuntino Lanfredi, poeta de principios del siglo XIV, vivió en Lucca.
