Antoine Laniel, marchand à Viviers, fit enregistrer ses armes en 1696. Le 5 février 1687, Jacques d'Hilaire, marquis de Jovyac épousa Françoise de Laniel, de la ville de Viviers, dotée de 21500 livres pour droits paternels et maternels. En 1738, M. Noé Laniel, bourgeois de Viviers, est dit deau-frère de Mademoiselle Marie-Gabrielle Aoust, fille de M. Dominique Aoust, ancien receveur des tailles du pays de Vivarez et de Mademoiselle Françoise Giraud. En 1742, Mademoiselle Jeanne Aoust est dite veuve de feu de M. Laniel. La distinction familiale représentée ici sous forme de blason, survit à travers les siècles grâce à des précieux témoignages qui nous ont permis de rapporter les exploits et les gestes de cette famille. Armes: D'azur, à un agneau pascal contourné d'argent, tenant une croix d'or avec son guidon d'argent, le tout surmonté d'une étoile d'or posée au milieu du chef.
