Linhagem muito antiga. Com base em referências de historiadores da época e outras encontradas por Araldis nos arquivos cadastrais de cidades e outros particulares, podemos afirmar, mas não assegurar, que este escudo ou outro muito semelhante a ele, surgiu inicialmente entre os séculos 11 e 14. século, nomeadamente na campanha contra o Islão acompanhando as hostes de D. Afonso Senhor de Molina e irmão de Fernando III o Santo Rei de Castela, na batalha dos Campos de Jerez em 1231 contra Aben Hud. As referências desta família parecem especificar-se com maior frequência do século XV ao século XIX, sobretudo os acontecimentos da guarda do duque de Feria que se encarregou, juntamente com o duque de Sabóia, de defender as freiras no saque de as tropas espanholas em San Quintin a 27 de agosto de 1557.
