Famiglia antichissima in Padova e da tempo remoto divisa in parecchie linee, oggi tutte estinte, tranne quella di cui si parla nel presente cenno. Un ramo molto illustre che dette valorosi capitani e magistrati insigni ebbe il titolo di conte nel 1613 dal Veneto Senato e fu infeudata di Palù; fu insignita dell'ordine di S.Michele, vestì l'abito di Malta e di S. Stefano, fu fregiata delle armi di Francia, dell'impero e di Spagna. Questo ramo si estinse verso la metà del secolo XIX. Altro ramo pure estinto verso la metà dell'altro secolo, meno illustre del primo, aveva avuto il titolo di marchese nel 1670 da Carlo Emanuele di Savoia. Il ramo attualmente fiorente e che usa l'arma propria del primo ramo fu confermato nobile per la nobiltà padovana con S.R.A. 4 luglio 1819 nella persona di Francesco, di Antonio Lodovico. Assunse il cognome Pisani Zusto per decreto regio 18 marzo
