La famiglia è oriunda di Cremona donde si trasferì a Bergamo e indi a Roma. Giovanni Battista (1626-1698) fu valente pittore cremonese allievo del Tortiroli. Visse ed operò con fortuna onorato da commissioni di eminenti personaggi e da principi parmensi e Milanesi a Milano, Parma e Piacenza. Nel colorito fu valente imitatore di Palma il Giovane. Con R. D. motu proprio e RR. LL. PP. 22 aprile 1879, sua maestà il re Umberto I creava Angelo Michele Luigi barone con successione nei maschi primogeniti. Fu suo figlio il vivente Michele appassionato pittore collezionista e possessore di una pregevole raccolta di quadri, vivente scrittore ed apprezzato conoscitore di cose d'arte da cui il barone Edgardo commendatore della Corona d'Italia, console Onorario di Romania, cav. Uff. dell'ordine di Vasa (Svezia), decorato di medaglia d'argento al valore militare di una grande guerra italo Austriaco. Appassionato animatore e cultore di ogni ramo di sport,
