Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Bertrand, de la paroisse de Plédéliac, témoin dans une donation de Geoffroy de Penthièvre à l'abbaye de Saint-Aubin des Bois en 1167; Foulques, croisé en 1248 (Chartes latines de 1191 à 1249 relatives aux croisée, provenant du cabinet Courtois); Guillaume, tué à la bataille de Saint-Aubin du Carmier en 1488, marié à Jeanne Bertrand; un abbé de Vierzon au diocèse de Bourges en 1762, archidiacre de Goëllo, puis de Paris, mort en 1804. Le seigneur de la Villemarqué, débouté l'intendance en 1710. Autre branche de cette famille: Nicolas, auditeur des comptes en 1418; Pierre, secrétaire du duc, commissaire pour la réformation des fouages de Rennes en 1440.
