Este sobrenome é muito difundido na península, com inúmeras casas ancestrais. Por referências de historiadores da época e de outros encontrados por Araldis na cidade e em outros arquivos privados de registro, poderíamos afirmar, mas não garantir, que esse escudo ou outro muito semelhante a ele apareceu inicialmente do século 11 ao 14, principalmente em a campanha do rei Sancho VII, em 1215, fazendo parte das tropas que conquistaram várias cidades valencianas e que o papa Honório III reconheceu sua propriedade em 1216. As referências dessa família parecem ser necessárias com mais frequência do século XV ao século XIX, especialmente os fatos da negociação com os franceses do Tratado dos Pirenéus em 7 de novembro de 1659 e, especialmente, na delimitação exata da fronteira com a Catalunha e a França.
