A antiga e nobre família toscana é registrada na lista oficial com o título de Nobile di Massa (mf.) Na pessoa de Giuliano, Enrico, Giovanni, Giuliano. A família se espalhou ao longo dos séculos em diferentes regiões da Itália, com um assentamento conspícuo em Como; em algumas regiões vizinhas também existem as formas cognominais Lecca ou Mecco, isso deve ser um problema de transcrição. O brasão de armas da família Lecco está estampado da seguinte forma: D'azzurro, a torre fundada em uma montanha de três picos e unida por duas estrelas de seis pontas, todas em prata; com a cabeça dourada, carregada com a águia preta de duas cabeças, coroada pela mesma nas duas cabeças.

D'azzurro, alla torre fondata su un monte di tre cime e accostata da due stelle a sei punte, il tutto d'argento; con il capo d'oro, caricato dell'aquila bicipite di nero, coronata dello stesso sulle due teste.

Blasone della famiglia Lecco dalla Toscana. Fonte: "Raccolta Ceramelli Papiani" custodita presso l'archivio di stato di Firenze fasc. 7887; secondo lo storico e araldista marchese Vittorio Spreti sono fregiati di titoli nobiliari anche in Como; si trovano anche le forme cognominali Mecco e Lecca; il monte di tre cime in molte illustrazioni è uscente dalla punta anche se il blasone non lo specifica.
