A origem remota da família, como costumava ser chamada até o século XVI, fica em Lecco, no lago de Como. A partir dessa cidade, a família se estabeleceu em Brescia no século XVIII; de fato, em 1274, esse sobrenome aparece pela primeira vez em uma ação do mosteiro de S. Chiara com os filhos de um Bonaventura; então, no Estatuto conhecido como Malesardi de 1292, Giovanni aparece e, finalmente, é a vontade de Pietro, fundador da igreja dos frades franciscanos de Rezzato, de 1316. Personagens distintos dessa família apareceram no século XIV e, especialmente, durante o senhorio de Pandolfo Malatesta: Pietro , também conhecido como Perinus, é um funcionário da corte desse príncipe, assim como Giovanni, que se conecta aos portões Bruciate e S. Eufemia em 1412. Alguns historiadores acreditam que o ramo da família Brescia é uma derivação da família de Manzonibus, também originalmente de Lecco, onde outro ramo
