Famiglia originaria di Brisighella, che anticamente chiamavasi Venturi, poi, per essere una di quelle che entrò nella lega al tempo delle fazioni Guelfe e Ghibelline fu detta Venturi della Lega, poi Lega Venturi e da ultimo finì per chiamarsi più brevemente Lega. Sembra che il suo capostipite sia un tal Berlando da Varnello in valle di Lamone, nato nel 1300, ma non è documentato. Il primo che illustrò la famiglia fu Michele, nato nel 1777 e morto nel 1859. Egli coprì in patria molte cariche pubbliche e ne favorì l'industria impiantando a Brisighella una grande filanda a vapore sorta nell'Emilia. SS. Pio IX lo dichiarò benemerito della patria e lo nominò cavaliere di S. Gregorio Magno; la Repubblica di S. Marino gli concesse il patriziato ereditario. Egli sposò la sig. Gentile Tondini di Brisighella ed ebbe tre figli maschi capostipiti dei rami oggi fiorenti e 4 femmine, una delle quali,
