Procedem os Leitões de Martim Pires L. de Lodares, fidalgo principal, que possuiu o morgado de Cidoros, junto de Abiul, o padroado da igreja de Santa Marinha, no termo de Barcelos, e o senhorio de Lodares. Seus pais foram Pedro Martins de Lodares e sua mulher D. Sancha Pires de Valdomar, seu avô paterno Martim Pais de Lodares, filho de D. Paio Forjaz, neto de D. Fruela Guedes e bisneto de D. Gueda Soares, O Velho, tronco das melhores linhagens. Martim Pires de Lodares recebeu-se com D. Teresa Rodrigues de Urró, filha de Rui Dias de Urró e de sua mulher, D. Teresa Fernandes Martinhata. Deste matrimónio foram Gonçalo Martins L., casado com D. Maria Esteves Falacheira, com geração; Fernão Martins L., casado com D. Maria Canelas, com geração; Rui L., sem geração; Pedro Martins L., casado, com geração; e D. Joana L., mulher de João Mendes de Aguiar. A sua descendência continuou o apelido de L., proveniente de alcunha. A Cristóvão L., cavaleiro fidalgo da Casa Real, coronel e capitão dos alabardeiros del-rei, que no Reino de Nápoles, na defesa de Pisa e noutraos lugares da Itália em serviço dos Reis Católicos deu grandes provas de valor e, também, pela sua acção na tomada de Azamor assim como na de Arzila, pelejando esforçadamente, lhe fez D. João III, por Carta de 21 de Abril de 1524, acrescentamento de suas armas.
