Familia originaria de los reyes de León por proceder de Vila Mayor. Comenzó en D. Bermudo Ordonhes, señor de L., hijo de D. Ordonho, señor de L., y su mujer, D. Urraca García. A continuación se conoce al siguiente: Vasco Lopes de L., que vivió hacia el 740 y conoció al rey D. Afonso I en la conquista de Lugo, padre de Lopo de L., señor del Valle de L., cuyo señorío constaba de veinte castillos , casado con Sancha de Saavedra, padres de Fernão Lopes de L., casado con Eugénia García, de la familia Osorios. De este matrimonio nació Diogo Lopes de L., que vivió en el reinado de D. Afonso el Casto, casado con D. Entroda, hija de los señores de Vizcaya, que tuvo a Afonso Lopes de L., uno de los trece de los Orden de Sant'Iago , de los que lo parieron, esposo de D. Estefânia
