Questa famiglia godette nella Repubblica Fiorentina il priorato per diciassette volte dall'anno 1442 al 1521, e nel tempo del Principato fu decorata della dignità senatoria nella persona di Francesco, di Girolamo, celebre come uomo di stato e come giureconsulto, e che fu anche ambasciatore residente presso il Re di Spagna e poi presso l'Imper. a Praga, dove morì nel 1594. Giuliano, di Noferio, essendo nella Signoria nel 1494, venne da Carlo VIII di Francia insignito come i suoi colleghi della dignità cavalleresca, col privilegio di unire alla propria arme quella de regno di Gerusalemme in mezzo a due gigli d'oro sul campo azzurro. Altri personaggi di questa famiglia degni di memoria furono: Carlo, di Simone, distinto letterato ed uno dei fondatori dell'Accademia Fiorentina, di cui fu console nel 1543; il Cav.
