Antica famiglia pesarese che ha per capostipite un Angelo, vivente verso il 1350. Un di lui pronipote, Camillo, fu filosofo, medico e celebrato astrologo per il suo trattato "Speculum lapidum". Giureconsulto e matematico fu Gian Giacomo nipote ex frate del predetto Camillo e che fu anche oratore in Venezia per i Duchi della Rovere ed ottenne nel 1540 dal Duca Guidobaldo II Della Rovere oltrechè il titolo di Conte poggiato su feudo di Montelabate per sè e suoi discendenti in perpetuo, anche il privilegio di aggiungere al proprio il cognome Della Rovere e di inquartarne lo stemma. Si segnalarono nelle armi i fratelli del predetto Gian Giacomo, Ascanio ed Antenore, nonchè il figlio di quest'ultimo Francesco Maria. Un Giulio prese parte alla difesa di Vienna ed a quella di Buda, contro i Turchi. Il 13 marzo 1748 al Conte Giacomo, Conte di Montelabate e a Francesco Maria, suo fratello,
