Oriundi da epoca remota dal castello di Lonigo, furono aggregati al nobile Consiglio di Lendinara nel 1414. Passarono quindi in Este ed a Vicenza, dove nel 1510 avevano quattro posti in quel Consiglio nobile e facevano parte al nobile Collegio dei Giudici vicentini. Il ramo de L. da Este diede molti uomini di chiarissimo ingegno. E' memoria di un Isaia Lonigo vissuto nel secolo XV, illustre tra i canonici regolari lateranensi. Egli commentò il Cantico dei Cantici dedicandolo alle vergini. Emendò in latino, con finezza di lingua, le Vite dei Santi, e cessò di vivere nel 1443 in Venezia nel monastero di Santa Maria della Carità.
