Tradition has it that this noble family comes from Frankfurt, Germany. In Italy he came to Bergamo, from here he branched off to Bologna and Volterra. From Bologna, where we have news since 1300, it extended to Pesaro, Jesi and Monsavito (Marche). In Bologna it belonged to the first nobility, and so it is remembered by many writers who collected news about the noble Bolognese families; he was buried in the Chapel of S. Giuliana, which was of his patronage. A Leonoro di Giacomo moved to Monsavito at the end of the 14th century. This is the certain progenitor of the Marche branch of the family. In fact in old manuscripts it is said "in 1407 the land of Monsavito, already granted by Gregory XII to the Community of Ancona, very turbulent, began to calm down.
