Ancient and noble Italian family, originally from Fossano, in Piedmont, but with a branch in Cicagna, in Liguria, known as Leverone, Leveroni or Levrone, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. The clear nobility of this House is confirmed by its presence in the fundamental heraldic work "Il Patriziato Subalpino" by Baron Antonio Manno (1834-1918), Piedmontese scholar, critic and philologist, which is a substantial work dedicated to the history of the great families of the Savoy State, with historical information and blazon descriptions. The genealogist Giovan Battista di Crollalanza also deals with this noble family in his famous "Il Dizionario storico-blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane, estinte e fiorenti". Colonel Orazio Leverone, former governor of Bene and Busca, bought two thirds of the fiefs of Aisone, Vinadio and Ponte S. Bernardo and, in 1665, obtained the title of Count.
