Peña, se afincó en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria a principios del siglo XIX, donde contrajo matrimonio con Doña Manuela Arata, vecina de Lanzarote y tuvieron dos hijos: Don Emilio L. Arata, que casó en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria con Doña Manuela Gracia, de la que tuvo siete hijos, y Don Luis L. Arata, que contrajo nupcias con Doña María de la Cruz Wood Melián, de origen inglés, dejando ilustre descendencia. La familia L., de gran prestigio en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, se destacó en la noble actividad del Comercio de Importación y Exportación y algunos de sus miembros ejercieron la Medicina y la Ingeniería, entre otras profesiones liberales.
