Famille sicilienne très noble, résultat de l'union de deux illustres familles siciliennes : les Li Destri et les Nicosia. La famille Li Destri serait originaire d'Espagne. An Antonio Li Destri, avec privilège du 15 mai 1602, obtint le titre de "Chevalier Royal" et la reconnaissance des armoiries. Un Francesco était "proconservatore" à Ganci, ville sicilienne connue sous le nom de Gangi, en 1732; un Antonino avait les fiefs d'Equila Verde, Montagna di Neglia, Ficuzza, Grotte di Famusa, San Todaro et Montagna del Corvo et Rainò, sur lequel a obtenu le titre de Baron avec investiture le 27 avril 1776; un Michel-Ange, de Ganci, obtint avec le privilège du 31 août 1791, le titre de baron de Partisina ; le baron Francesco-Antonio était capitaine de justice de Calascibetta, au cours de l'exercice biennal 1812-13.
