Ancient and illustrious Polish family, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has spread, over the centuries, in different European regions. More specifically, a branch of the family, at the dawn of the tenth ninth century, moved to Austria, changing the old surname Lischewski in the current Lichtner. There, the family was titled Knight on July 25, 1861 and admitted to the Austrian nobility on December 15, 1876, with the predicate of Edle von Elbenthal. The clear nobility of this branch of the House is confirmed by the presence of its blazon in the valuable work of JB Rietstap (12 May 1828–24 December 1891), a Dutch heraldist and genealogist, "The Armorial General", a monumental work that contains the blazons of the coats of arms of more than 130,000 European families.
