Família antiga e nobre da Calábria. O comendador GB de Crollalanza relata o brasão desta família nos volumes de seu histórico dicionário de brasões das nobres e notáveis famílias italianas. Antiga e ilustre naqueles lugares em que o excelente historiador de Salmena do final do século relata em sua obra "Morano Calabro e suas casas ilustres", impressa em Milão por Bellini e C. em 1882. Esta família, não tinha sido muito chorosa nos tempos antigos por várias maldita sorte, em todo o caso, diz-se que é antiga e quase em nossos dias desfrutou do grau senatorial, tendo também homens respeitáveis. Era o costume das famílias mais antigas, que após a queda do Império Romano, naquele dilúvio dos bárbaros, tendo seus sobrenomes, assim como seus estudos, e outras coisas bonitas perdidas e deixadas apenas com nomes simples, desenhavam seus sobrenomes , e sua família por nomes próprios paternos e pelos principais.
