É o uso destes dois apelidos mantido em conjunto desde o segundo quartel do século passado, provindo do casamento de António Mayer, nascido em Nancy, no Sarre Union em 1799 e falecido em 1867, com D.Maria Clementina de Lima. Ele era neto paterno de Charles Joseph Mayer, nascido na Alsácia e casado com Sophie Brecsany, e ela, Senhoraa dos casais de Carvalho, Borrazeiro,Maninhos, etc. em Santarém, e da Quinta da Cruz de Taboado, em S.sebastião da Pedreira, Lisboa, filha de josé Manuel de Lima e de sua mulher e prima D.Rosa Perpétua de Lima Miranda, e neta paterna do Dr.António Manuel de Lima, Bacharel em Leis pela Universidade de Coimbra,nascido em Bragança em 1716, irmão de José rodrigues de Lima, Capitão de Ordenanças dessa cidade. Daquele casal foram filhos entre outros o Dr Carlos de Lima Mayer, um dos vencidos da Vida, e Adolfo de Lima Mayer,casdo com D.Maria Amália Pereira Guimarães, de quem descendem os Lima Mayer.
