Apelligo gallego, oriundo de Portugal. En Canarias ha estado unido este apellido al de Boza, desde que fundara el Mayorazgo de esta Casa en Tenerife, el Licenciado Domingo Gonzáles Boza, Regidor Perpetuo de esta Casa en Tenerife, Regidor Perpetuo de la Gran Canaria, Teniente de Corregidor de Tenerife en 1582 y Personero general en 1584, habiendo sido Corregidor de la ciudad de Lorca. Era hijo de Antonio Gonzales Boza, el primero que de Portugal vino a Tenerife y nieto de Gonzalo Boza de L. El primero llamado a la posesión de dicho Mayorazgo, fue Don Jerónimo Boza de L., hijo de Domingo y de Magdalena Rodríguez Vélez, nacido en La Laguna y bautizado en los Remedios el 8 de febrero de 1585, Capitán de Artillería del puerto de Santa casó en 1604 con Doña Luisa de Anchieta Machado y Becerril, descendiente de los más nobles Conquistadores de la Isla, y padre en ella de Doña Marcelina Boza de L. Anchieta y Machado.
