Poco dissimile dalla famiglia Persico era la condizione dei Linciano; poiché anche Girolamo Linciano venne da una valle del Bergamasco a Venezia povero fanciullo, e servì come garzone nella bottega di droghe a piedi del ponte di Rialto, all'insegna dell'Angelo di proprietà di Gaspare Lucca, il quale venne aggregato alla veneta nobiltà durante la guerra di Candia, sotto il nome del Lucca. Girolamo Linciano rimase direttore dello stesso negozio, e tenne l'azienda per molti anni a nome del suo principale con molta onestà ed abilità. Finalmente avendolo acquistato a pronta cassa dagli eredi di Gaspare Lucca, rimase assoluto proprietario di tutto, e seguitando a negoziare con mirabile fortuna, si risolse di domandare il patriziato veneto mediante la solita offerta, che venne accettata il 12 aprile dell'anno 1685, e fu ascritto alla veneta nobiltà, avendo ottenuto in Senato il giorno 5 aprile voti favorevoli 135, contrari 18, non sinceri 4, e
