Ramo legittimato della famiglia di antica nobiltà padovana, noto dal 1200 e che sino dalla seconda metà del secolo XV venne in possesso di una porzione della giurisdizione libera di Sanguinetto nel Veronese, cui era annesso il titolo comitale. Un secolo dopo Girolamo Cavazza secretario del Senato, uomo ricchissimo, volle approfittare dell'apertura del Libro d'Oro di Venezia nelle gravissime contingenze della guerra di Candia, ma non avendo diretti discendenti, chiese il Patriziato, oltre che per se, per due nipoti sposate a due donne della famiglia e loro discendenti e l'ottenne con Decreti 28 e 31 gennaio 1653 del Senato e del Maggior Consiglio. Il Patriziato come pure la tangente di Sanguinetto e la contea di Asparedo a norma delle leggi venete cessava per questa linea a causa d'illeggittimità di nascita. Seguita la legittimazione Federico padre del sottodescritto, ottenne per particolari pregi, le concessioni della nobiltà austriaca con S.R.A. 17 giugno
