Família antiga e muito nobre de Turim, que no entanto queria vir de Bolonha, de virtude clara e ancestral, originalmente conhecida como Filippa, que se espalhou ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da Itália Central, onde foi transcrita como Lippa e no exterior. Giovanni-Antonio, cavaleiro e auditor de Rota em Bolonha em 1588, foi para o Piemonte, onde foi juiz, senador e camareiro na Câmara (1594, 25 de janeiro; licenças, 29, 243 v). Casou-se com Lucrécia, Melchiorre Marco Borgarelli, de Chieri, e Girolama Ceva di S. Michele. Giambattista, seu filho, também era senador e adquiriu o feudo de Martiniana, ao qual o título em comum era então anexado. Gian-Maurizio, irmão do já mencionado, foi o primeiro presidente da Câmara de Contas e investiu nos feudos de S. Michele, Prazzo e Uzzolo.
