In un'antica carta araldica, che non poco ci tramanda relativamente alla nobile famiglia di cui stiam trattando, leggiamo: "Fra le famiglie nobili della città di Napoli fuor de' Seggi habbiam ritrovato la famiglia detta Lo Curto o Curto, la quale fù illustrata dal Reggente Camillo. Ebbe ella congiungimento con le nobili famiglie Castiglione de' Baroni di San Nicolò, e Montefrescoso, e si è dilatata in molte altre città delle Province Napoletane. Ella venne da Catalogna, ò dalla città di Barcellona riccamente nella nostra Sicilia, e fra i Baroni feudatari antichi circa il 1343, si trovano, Antonio de Curtibus, il quale fiorì con splendore di vera nobiltà in quei tempi; e non lunge Simone de Curtibus cavaliero stimatissimo del Rè Federico III, e parimente del Rè Martino; perloche egli dal predetto Rè Federico III, e parimente del Rè Martino; perloche egli dal predetto Rè Federico hebbe onze cento di rendita ogn'anno
