La famiglia è già nota da tempo negli Stati della Chiesa, ebbe lustro principale da Lorenzo nato il 31 marzo 1654 e morto il 18 gennaio 1729 a Grotte S. Stefano (Montefiascone). Fu frate minore osservante, insigne teologo e letterato valoroso. Fu creato cardinale il 9 dicembre 1726, il giorno stesso della elezione a pontefice di S. S. Benedetto XIV. Giuseppe Maria suo nipote fu con Sovrano chirografo creato conte nel 1729. Giuseppe fu per oltre 50 anni vice bibliotecario della Vaticana, insigne paleografo. Morì nella sua villa a Bolsena nel giugno 1905. La famiglia é iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale in persona di Ettore coi fratelli Ugo, Vittorio, Giulio, Luigi Ingegnere (Eccellenza), Presidente del Consiglio Superiore dei Lavori Pubblici, Gran Croce della Corona d'Italia e Grand'ufficiale dei S.S. Maurizio e Lazzaro nonchè di Francesco coi fratelli Lamberto e Giuseppe, col titolo di conte (m.). Altro ramo. La famiglia é iscritta nell'Elenco
