Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Hervé, témoin en 1218 d'une fondation au prieuré de Bécherel; Bertrand, vivant en 1320, épouse Alix de Plumaugat; Guyon, ratifie le traité de Guérande en 1381; Alix, dame de cette maison, épouse vers 1460 François de Beaumont, seigneur dudit lieu, paroisse de Guitté. Une branche cadette transplantée en Normandie, y maintenue en 1463, élection de Bayeux, a produit: Jean, fils Hervé, chambellan de Louis XI en 1463; un capitaine de cinquante hommes d'armes, tué à la bataille d'Ivry en 1590; quatre gouverneurs de Carentan depuis 1588; un aide major général, tué à la bataille de Fontenoy en 1745, et un maréchal de camp en 1762, mort en 1776.
