Oriundi anciently from Burgos, transplanted to Portugal by Giovanni Lopes de Leon, obtained the Roman nobility on 13 December 1770 in the person of the brothers Don Raffaele and Don Dionigi. The coat of arms, which we report here removed from the Roman armorials, is of blue to the natural lion; but in the Book of the Kings of Arms in the Archives of the Torre do Tombo in Portugal, the ancient weapon of the Lopes de Leone is silver at the blue cross loaded with three acorns of green in each arm.
