Family originally from Spain. Passed into the Neapolitan area, it was enfeoffed by Ortisana and Taurisano at the beginning of the 17th century. In 1692 she was decorated with the title of duke of Taurisano, and in 1767 she was received for justice in the Order of Malta. In 1801 it was entered in the list of the Priory of Barletta in the person of Antonio. The family is registered in the Official Italian Noble List of 1922 with the title of Duke of Taurisano (mpr.) for the descendants of the aforementioned Antonio.
