Familia originaria de España. Pasada a la zona napolitana, fue enfeudada por Ortisana y Taurisano a principios del siglo XVII. En 1692 fue condecorada con el título de duque de Taurisano, y en 1767 fue recibida por justicia en la Orden de Malta. En 1801 fue inscrito en la lista del Priorato de Barletta en la persona de Antonio. La familia está inscrita en el Registro Nobiliario Oficial Italiano de 1922 con el título de Duque de Taurisano (mpr.) por los descendientes del citado Antonio.
