Noble famille divisée en deux branches; c'est-à-dire dans celui de Pievefosciana et dans l'autre de Sillico, tous deux éteints. Rocco Lorenzotti ministre d'état de Francesco II d'Este duc de Modène, a obtenu les fiefs de Farneta et Pieve Gusciola avec le titre de comte. Domenico en 1652 maire de Sassuolo. Cette famille s'est éteinte dans une arrière-petite-fille dudit Rocco mariée à un comte Cassoli de Modène qui a pris le nom de famille en l'ajoutant au sien. Le titre de comte appartenait à cette famille, titre donné par les empereurs à ceux qui étaient à leurs côtés.
