Antica ed assai nobile famiglia toscana, ascritta alla nobiltà di Pisa, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e del Mondo. I diversi rami della famiglia sono stati nel tempo trascritti in maniera diversa. Si ritiene pertanto che le famiglie Storto, Lostorto e del Torto appartengano tutte ad un medesimo ceppo, facente capo a quel Giorgio che sostenne le veci di Marquardo, Patriarca di Aquileja, e capitano generale dell' Imperatore Carlo IV in Toscana nel 1365. Alcuni suoi membri furono cavalieri di Santo Stefano. In territorio calabrese la famiglia appare come Lostorto e dello Stuorto, sin dal 1610, con un Antonio, nominato in un documento dell'epoca. Non molte famiglie, anche fra le più antiche, possono vantare una nobiltà di origine così pregevole, della quale i discendenti, a buon diritto, potranno vantarsi.
