Florentine family. In the early eighteenth century Gio. Pietro Ricci moved from Florence to Livorno and in 1738 he joined the General Council of this last city. His son Giuliano, called to the position of gonfalonier in 1749, was ascribed for justice to the Leghorn nobility with a decree of 24 September 1770. With RD 17 September 1925 Giuliano, Paolo Alessandro was allowed to add the surname Lotteringi of the Curly; and with another RD I December 1926 was granted the baronial title, transmissible to the male descendants in the firstborn line. It was the custom of the oldest families, who after the fall of the Roman Empire, in that flood of the Barbarians, having their surnames, as well as their studies, and other beautiful things lost and left only with simple names, draw their surnames again , and their family by paternal proper names, and of the major ones.
